  • ¾ cup raisins (soaked in hot water for 15 minutes and drained)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (cold)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted, for glaze)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/8 tsp kosher salt (for glaze)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Grate the frozen butter into the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
  4. Fold in soaked raisins and cold buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface; pat into a rectangle about 1 inch thick and cut into rounds.
  6. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare the glaze by mixing melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, powdered sugar, milk, salt, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Drizzle glaze over warm biscuits before serving.
