  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onions, and garlic; cook until beef is no longer pink (6–8 minutes).
  2. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Pour in chicken stock and crushed tomatoes, then add sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and let simmer uncovered for about 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed before serving over spaghetti or meatballs.
