  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Melt the butter in a deep-dish baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and water (if using fresh berries). Bring to a boil, then set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add buttermilk and stir until smooth.
  4. Pour the blueberry mixture over the melted butter without stirring. Carefully pour the topping over the blueberries.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
