Ingredients
- 1 small yellow onion (finely chopped)
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- â…“ cup apple cider vinegar
- â…“ cup honey
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (3- to 4-pound) boneless beef shoulder or beef butt
- Cornstarch (for thickening)
Instructions
- In your slow cooker, whisk together the onion, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, honey, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, mustard powder, Sriracha, salt, and optional liquid smoke until smooth.
- Season the beef with salt and pepper and add it to the slow cooker. Spoon the sauce over the beef.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 5 to 6 hours or LOW for 8 to 10 hours until tender.
- Shred the beef in a large bowl and thicken the sauce with cornstarch mixed with water. Return the beef to the sauce before serving.
